Hollywood and hip-hop has developed a culture of robbing teenagers of their innocence by making stars out of them. It’s like people have gotten tired of seeing matured celebrities and so they pick a teenager and make a monster star out of him/her and when the teen starts misbehaving from the side effects of the fame, the audience gets really excited and move in with sharp knives to tear them, properly making sure that enough skin and blood goes round for everyone. I must confess that I’ve been a partaker of this guilty pleasures for some time now and really I felt the thrill. It’s almost like mixing cocaine+gunpowder and inhaling with a shot of gin.
Everybody knows the Michael Jackson story, pure talent that’s old school but I think it was the beginning of this madness. I’ve followed the stories of Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Justin Beiber, Selena Gomez and a few other such teen stars recently. In fact, I find these people amusing and in the last one week, the excitement has reached fever pitch. Saw a video of Justin Beiber being pressed into a police car for several charges including use of narcotics.
Miley Cyrus? Oh, she’s finally gone berserk. That’s what everyone is saying now. A few years ago, she was America’s darling and every mother wanted their daughter to be like Hannah Montana. Who’s seen her 2013 MTVVMA performance and the video of Wrecking Ball? The public lighting up of marijuana joints in the most unexpected public places. People now call her BAD NEWS and compare her with Lorde, who is from New Zealand and is like the most decent teenager in the industry – to the public.
Talking about Lorde, she’s being accepted as decent BUT old-fashioned with a 16th century dress sense. In other words, she is the most outlandish teenager in Hollywood but I guess the same people will tear her up without mercy after she poses for her first nude shots for Vogue Magazine! I’m keeping my fingers crossed and watching this show. I’ll also mention that Selena Gomez, Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus are quite being pitched against Lorde in the press to help her loose her music industry virginity quickly. A few hours after some magazines hinted at Lorde’s appearance at the Grammys; Selena and Katy have been reported to say she looks like she’s 40. Are 2 Grammy plaques enough to cause all the words flying between these 4 young ladies?
